All youth music ministers from across the Archdiocese are invited to participate in the 2019 ALMA Youth Awards. Students in Junior High and High School are welcome to compete for $400 and $500 scholarships, respectively. The scholarships are used for private study on their instrument or attendance at a music ministry camp. To enter, each participant composes an essay about their involvement in music ministry, and submits a letter of recommendation from a private teacher or church music minister. They also prepare three pieces to perform before a clinician and panel of judges. The pieces include a hymn, a mass part (Sanctus or Agnus Dei) and a psalm response. Each student receives feedback from the clinician in a master class format, along with written comments from the panel. This year’s Youth Awards will take place on Saturday, March 16 at St. Gabriel Parish, Hubertus, WI.
